It appears that everyone is jumping into supporting technological innovation in education.  Come on in, the water’s great!  This past week Kaplan announced the creation of Kaplan VC, LLC, a subsidiary designed to identify and develop innovative learning strategies, technologies and products with the power to transform education worldwide according to a press release issued by the company.

“This new unit signifies the importance we place on outside entrepreneurs and the kind of innovative work that will help improve the educational experience for students of all ages at all levels,” said Jim Rosenthal, Chief Executive Officer of Kaplan Ventures. “Across Kaplan’s various education businesses, we have always been dedicated to improving the learning experience and helping students achieve their individual education and career goals. The formation of Kaplan VC, LLC is another step toward that goal.”

The new group will be led by Jason Palmer, who assumes the position of Senior Vice President, Kaplan Ventures.

“Jason will collaborate with learning and technology experts across the company and the industry, serving as a catalyst to help us identify innovative learning technologies and new business models,” said Rosenthal. “Our goal is to nurture these new technologies to bring them to market, and to ensure our students and programs will benefit.”
