Design Boost FAQ’s

Here are some of the frequently asked questions about our Design Boost series.  Do you have a question that isn’t on the list?  Feel free to ask us.

Are companies who have already raised venture capital or angel funding eligible?
Yes. We are interested in projects and products of all kinds as long as they are in the ideation stage of development. Non-profit as well as for-profits are welcome.

Are there any particular application areas that are not allowed?
The first Boost is devoted to mobile phone applications but we will be running Boosts in the future that focus on other platforms, content areas, end users and distribution mechanisms.

Are there any other fees involved?
We just need you to get yourself at your expense to the Boost destination and find a place to crash for five days. We will take care of the rest.

Who is on the judging panel to select the teams?
Applications are judged by a panel of experts including the Startl Team and representatives from our Operating Partners as well as
learning industry experts.

Are participants from outside of the United States eligible?
Yes, but realize that transportation and housing costs still fall to the participant.

What happens if we have an idea and a prototype but no hackers or coders are free to come along to the Boost?
For this first Boost (Mobile Design Boost), having a coder is a requirement. For subsequent Boosts we may be able to assist teams that don’t have that expertise internally.
